Library tips for new students

Metropolia Library works in cooperation with Haaga-Helia and Laurea libraries. Thanks to this cooperation, you have access to several campus libraries and a huge amount of material. These tips will help you get started with the library.

Your online library is MetCat Finna

Search the MetCat Finna online library for printed and electronic materials: books, magazines, sheet music, articles, databases, and theses. Browse new arrivals, make reservations, and renew loans. Check library opening hours and contact details. Read the LibGuides on searching for information and using e-materials. Ask us in the chat!

MetCat Finna includes information about the printed materials of Metropolia, Haaga-Helia and Laurea libraries. You can also access Metropolia's e-materials through the service. The international e-resources search allows you to find peer-reviewed studies, articles, and e-books from various disciplines and publishers.

Metropolia students and staff have access to licensed e-materials. You can access e-materials on campus and remotely by logging in with your Metropolia username and password.

MetCat Finna also provides information about library services and online guides.

Your library card is on your phone

If you are a new student, you can create your library card in the Tuudo app before visiting the library. Metropolia students can use the library card in the Tuudo mobile app.

You need a library card to borrow printed materials and items. The same library card is valid at Metropolia, Haaga-Helia and Laurea libraries. You can reserve books from all three libraries in the MetCat Finna online library and pick up your reservations from the campus library of your choice. You can also return your loans to any of these libraries.

See the Library Services guide for information on how to get a library card.

Campus libraries are open from morning to evening

You can study and use the libraries on weekdays from morning to evening, during the campus opening hours. The opening hours of campus libraries consist of service hours and self-service hours. In addition to materials, we offer spaces for quiet work and group work. During the academic year, the Myllypuro library is also open on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

In addition to the Metropolia library, you can also use the libraries at the Haaga-Helia and Laurea campuses.

See the library opening hours and contact details on LibGuides.
