Work placement in the field of health care and social services

The supervised work placement is carried out in co-operation with the student, teacher and the employer. It is completed according to each degree program’s curriculum. The extent of the work placement varies from 45 to 120 credits. The work placement is carried out in several parts.

Special considerations before training

Familiarize yourself with the instructions at your internship workplace.

With student health care (YTHS >) make sure you have basic vaccinations and an infectious disease screening done.

Identity card

Obtain an ID card for the trainee, if required at your internship. Apply for an ID card in time before the internship. The delivery time of the card is about two weeks. Read more about Identity card for social services and health care students

Work placement abroad

Work placement can also be completed abroad. If you are looking for placement opportunities offered by Metropolia partner universities, please follow the Student Exchange process and the internal application of Metropolia. Students may also find a placement independently through their own contacts or by active searching. In this case the degree programme must approve the placement, the content and goals of the exchange period. Placements are reviewed throughout the academic year, read more in the section Work Placement Abroad.

DPSS students should fill in  ahot-application after the placement for credit transfer.
