Work groups for study support
Work groups for study support (OTYs)
At Metropolia, there are work groups for study support, also known as OTYs. These include both the university-wide cooperation group MOTY and campus-specific OTYs.
The groups bring together different stakeholders to discuss current issues related to study support and to develop jointly agreed themes. Each academic year has its own theme, decided in the university-wide MOTY. The group meets 2–3 times per academic year.
The OTYs are led by Metropolia staff members, with leadership rotating annually. In the academic year 2025–2026, the university-wide MOTY is coordinated by Maarika Kortelainen, Head of Student Wellbeing Services and Study Counsellor.
The study support cooperation groups include representatives from the following:
- Student Wellbeing Services (study counsellor, study psychologist, wellbeing coach, special needs teacher)
- University Chaplain
- Vocational Special Education Teacher
- Finnish Student Health Service (FSHS)
- Student organizations
- Student Union METKA
- Student guidance services
- Library services
- Safety and risk management services
As a student, you can bring suggestions or requests to the attention of the Work groups for study support through your own student organization (e.g., advocacy representative, social policy representative).
The composition of the groups may vary by campus. Any OTY member can bring matters forward for discussion.
