Work placement in the field of technology

Work placements are an important part of your studies. The aim of the work placement is to familiarise you with the main tasks in your field. The work placement gives you a working knowledge and a feel for the sector and its specificities.

Work placements are an essential part of a Bachelor's degree, combining theoretical knowledge with practical experience. The aim of the work placement is to familiarise students with practical work in their field, develop their professional skills and prepare them for independent work and problem-solving. It provides an opportunity to develop professional skills, network with people in the field and prepare for a future career.

The work placement is worth 30 credits, equivalent to 20 weeks of full-time work.

Work placements can also be undertaken abroad.

The work placement is announced and approved in the Work Placement System (only works on the Metropolia's local network or Metropolia vpn connection).

Work Placement guidance, job search and career guidance

Placement coordinators help students with work placement and career planning. Work placement and career guidance can be guidance on finding a work placement or job, including CV and application advice, updating LinkedIn profile or discussing work placement, work and career issues.

Other activities for students include CV and LinkedIn workshops and recruitment events, which provide an opportunity to network with employers and find new career opportunities.
