EXAM Regulations
By taking an examination in the electronic examination room of Metropolia University of Applied Sciences, the student undertakes to comply with the regulations of the EXAM electronic examination system. Acceptance of the regulations takes place when the student logs in to EXAM for the first time.
Supervising Examinations
EXAM examinations are supervised by recorded video surveillance, which also records audio. When a student books an examination time in EXAM, they give their consent to recorded video supervision. The student consents to the combination of data from access control, video recordings, and from EXAM system for the purpose of verifying the student’s identity.
The student must be identifiable in the video recording of the examination room; for example, headwear or a hood must not prevent identification.
Verification of Identity
An identity document must be carried during the examination for identity verification.
A student taking an EXAM examination is obliged, upon request, to prove their identity to a member of the UAS staff. In addition to recorded video supervision, spot checks are carried out in the examination rooms.
A student who has participated in an EXAM examination is also obliged, if requested, to verify their identity after the examination in the manner communicated to them.
No Personal Items in EXAM Rooms
No personal items, such as bags, mobile phones, headphones, smartwatches, outerwear, calculators, drinks, or food, may be taken into the EXAM room. Only an identity document, the access card to the room, and the key card for the locker may be brought in.
The student may bring with them water in a transparent bottle without a label and, if they wish to draft answers on paper, a personal pen into the EXAM room. Draft paper is available in the rooms.
All other personal belongings must be left e.g. in a locker outside the EXAM room for the duration of the examination.
Silence in EXAM Rooms
Absolute silence must be observed in the EXAM rooms. Discussion with other examinees is not allowed. Likewise, entering an EXAM room without a valid examination reservation is prohibited.
Examination Time and Leaving EXAM Room
The examination time begins immediately at the beginning of the reserved time. If the student starts their examination late, the examination time is shortened accordingly.
It is not permitted to leave an EXAM examination midway and return. The student may leave the room only after submitting or interrupting the examination.
Misconduct and Cheating
Cheating and misconduct in an examination is prohibited. Suspected cases of cheating are handled with the student, the examiner, and the head of degree programme. In cases of suspected cheating, the guidelines of the UAS are followed.
Individual Arrangements in EXAM
Individual arrangements may be granted for an EXAM examination if the student has a valid plan for individual arrangements. The student must agree on individual arrangements with the EXAM support separately for each examination.
Interruption and Disruption of Examination
If the examination is interrupted or prevented due to a technical failure, a disturbance in the EXAM room, a fire alarm, or any other similar reason, the student must abort the examination and leave the EXAM room. The student reports the matter in accordance with the instructions provided in the room. The report is forwarded to the examiner, who decides on the whether the examination can be retaken.
Assessment of Examination
The assessment schedules for examinations and courses are governed by the UAS degree regulations.
Violations of Regulations and Other Provisions
Violation of these regulations may lead to failing of the examination. If a student is seen to be in breach of the regulations or to cheat during the examination, the examination may be interrupted, and the student may be removed from the EXAM room.
In electronic EXAM examinations, the degree regulations, study guidelines, guidelines of Metropolia University of Applied Sciences concerning the rectification of course performance, disciplinary matters and the Board of Examiners, and the general policy on the use of information systems are observed.
