Study skills support groups
Metropolia’s open Corners in autumn 2026
Would you like more support for your studies, new perspectives on managing everyday life, or peer support from other students?
Metropolia’s Student Wellbeing Services regularly organise different Corners where you can strengthen your coping, study skills and wellbeing in a safe and encouraging atmosphere.
Corner activities are primarily held in Finnish, but students are warmly welcome to join also to practise Finnish. Communication can be complemented in English when needed, and independent work in the Corner is possible in any language.
What do the Corners offer?
- practical tips to make studying smoother
- tools for time management and stress management
- an opportunity to share experiences and receive peer support
- guidance and inspiration from student wellbeing professionals
All Corner activities are mainly conducted in Finnish, but you are very welcome to attend even if your Finnish is still developing. We can support communication in English when necessary, and your independent work in the Corner can be done in any language you prefer.
Who are the Corners for?
- All Metropolia students – whether you are at the beginning of your studies, close to graduation, or just looking for some extra energy for everyday life.
- You can join any Corner according to your needs – visit once or attend more regularly.
Corner sessions are run in Finnish, but they are also a good opportunity to practise Finnish in a low‑threshold environment. English can be used to clarify instructions, and your own study tasks in the Corner can be in any language.
How to join?
- Corners are organised during the semester on different themes.
- Current Corners and timetables are listed below.
- No advance registration is required.
Corner activities are facilitated in Finnish, but you are welcome to join to practise Finnish, and we can support you in English when needed. Independent work during the Corner is possible in all languages.

Thesis Corner
Is your thesis on your mind, but your motivation is missing or the process feels stuck? Do you need tips for returning to your thesis work, planning a schedule or writing?
Metropolia’s Thesis Corner is a low‑threshold support workshop led by a study psychologist. It offers peer support, tips for getting things done and inspiring working time for all students at different stages of their thesis.
What happens in the Thesis Corner?
- Discussion with fellow students who come to the Thesis Corner
- Short info‑bursts about different stages of the thesis process, supporting motivation, time management and overcoming blocks
- The opportunity to work on your own thesis tasks together with others in a shared space
You can join for the time that suits you – whether you are just starting your thesis or finalising the report. You can visit one Thesis Corner or come several times. No advance registration is required. The Thesis Corner is facilitated by staff from Student Wellbeing Services.
The Thesis Corner is mainly conducted in Finnish, but students are very welcome also if Finnish is not their first language. You can use the session to practise Finnish, and we can complement communication in English when necessary. Your independent thesis work in the Corner can be done in any language (for example Finnish, English or another thesis language).
Please note: The Thesis Corner does not provide content‑related or research‑methodological supervision for your thesis. If needed, we will direct you to the appropriate support.
