The Metropolia University of Applied Sciences Student Union METKA is a community for students at Metropolia. METKA maintains and develops student culture and community spirit at Metropolia through tutoring, sports services, events, and other activities. The student union also acts as the students' statutory advocat.

Become a member
Although the student union looks after the interests of every student, it is the members who enable METKA to operate in such a diverse manner. By becoming a member, you support our activities, so thank you! You can easily become a member of METKA on Kide.app.
All Metropolia students can access their student card via Tuudo mobile app on their first day of study. All you need to get started is your Metropolia ID. With the student card, you can get student-priced lunches at Kela-approved student restaurants, student-priced tickets for HSL, Matkahuolto, and VR, as well as local and national student benefits.
METKA members also enjoy many other benefits with the digital Slice student card. METKA membership also includes all Zone Sports Services – gyms, group exercise classes, self-service sessions, and the Yogobe online training library. Read more about Zone by clicking here.
Advocacy
METKA's task is to ensure the well-being of every Metropolia student during their studies. METKA promotes student well-being and rights by offering support in various study-related problem situations. METKA's advocacy helps individual students or groups in difficult situations, and we also work on behalf of all Metropolia students by meeting regularly with Metropolia staff. METKA also has a student counsel who is a full-time employee of METKA. Their duties include supporting students in matters handled by the Board of Examiners and the Legal Protection Committee. These include, for example, suspected fraud, requests for grade rectification and matters related to the right to study. Contact details can be found on METKA's website.

Tutoring
METKA organizes tutoring and trains all tutors at Metropolia. The tutors' task is to guide new students and help them form groups during their first days, weeks, and months of study.
METKA tutors are easily recognizable by their black tutor shirts and positive attitude!
METKA offers various tutoring roles in both peer and international tutoring. For example, peer tutors act as tutors for full-time students, and exchange tutors welcome and guide new exchange students arriving in Finland.
Any Metropolia student can apply to become a tutor, and all tutors receive training for the role. Information about applications is posted on METKA's social media channels and website.
Events
METKA offers events for all tastes – as a member, you get a significant discount on METKA’s and other partner student unions’ events! METKA's biggest annual events are Freshers’ Party, METKA's annual party, Wiikon Wappu, organized in collaboration with student associations, and MetroSport, where you can learn about different sports and wellness activities.
