Peer support
Peer Support Student Program
You have the opportunity to be matched with your own support student. You can talk with your support student in a confidential and low-threshold setting, sharing your thoughts and experiences openly.
Support students are trained volunteer fellow students from Metropolia. They are there to listen and support you with matters such as everyday student life, loneliness, social anxiety, study challenges, or difficulties with motivation and productivity. The service is free of charge and available to all Metropolia students. The goal is that no one is left alone.
How to get started:
- Book a Support Student Interview via the Vihta appointment system. Select the service Support Student Interview 20min.
- Based on the interview, you’ll be matched with a suitable support student by the coordinator. Once a match is found, a joint meeting will be arranged with you, your support student, and the program coordinator. This meeting will give you a chance to get to know your support student and go through the ground rules of the program.
- You can meet with your support student 2 to 10 times.
Peer support offers a chance to feel understood – and to understand others. It can also support better progress in your studies.
For more information about the support student program, contact study psychologist Julius Liimatta: julius.liimatta [at] metropolia.fi (julius[dot]liimatta[at]metropolia[dot]fi)
Note! At the moment, we are unable to accept new students for the support student program. If you need support through conversation, you can instead book a regular 30–45 minute appointment with the student well-being services staff.
