Accommodation

Make sure you start looking for accommodation as soon as you get your study place, as finding housing can be a challenge in the capital region. It is best to look for accommodation from several providers at the same time. As a student, you are entitled to apply for affordable rental accommodation specifically for students.

HOAS apartments

The Foundation for Student Housing in the Helsinki Region, HOAS, provides affordable rental accommodation for students. A significant number of Metropolia students live in apartments provided by HOAS.

A full-time degree student in the Helsinki metropolitan area can apply for a shared room, studio, one-bedroom, roommate apartment, or family apartment from HOAS as soon as their study place is confirmed.

The affordable rent always includes water, and in some apartments, electricity as well. Additionally, free internet access is provided, and usually, there is also a sauna and laundry room available. The apartments are unfurnished.

HOAS properties are located in Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa, and Kauniainen, either near Metropolia's campuses or with good public transport connections to them.

Other housing options

The city of Helsinki offers rental apartments in various parts of the city as well. When selecting tenants, the city considers factors such as the applicant's housing situation, income, and assets.

You can also look for an apartment on the private market. Rental apartments are offered by various housing providers such as Sato, Lumo and TA-Yhtiöt. You can search for your new home on rental agency sites such as Vuokraovi.fi and Oikotie.fi.
