Navigating Finnish Work Life (by Metropolia, 1 ECTS)

This course provides a broad overview of Finnish working life and job seeking in Finland. You will learn about:

  • Finnish work culture and the labour market
  • The hidden job market and networking
  • The role of language skills in different fields
  • Employee rights and responsibilities

The course is especially suitable for international students who want to deepen their understanding of Finnish working life and the hidden rules of job hunting – while earning study credits at the same time.

 

Start to Finnish (by Akava, certificate but no study credits)

A free online course produced by Akava (the Confederation of Unions for Professional and Managerial Staff in Finland), focusing on the practical stages of working life:

  • Job search
  • Starting employment
  • Everyday working life
  • Ending a contract
  • Employee rights and responsibilities

You will learn about Finnish working life from the perspective of trade unions. Completing the course provides a certificate, but no ECTS credits.

You can choose the option that suits you best – or complete both, as the courses complement each other. Both are free of charge, fully online, and can be completed flexibly at your own pace
