Summer Internship Program – Paid Summer Internships in Finland

The Summer Internship Program offers paid summer internships for international bachelor’s and master’s students in Finnish companies and organisations.

Internships take place between May and September in the Helsinki metropolitan area and are aimed at students in technology and business-related fields. Salaries follow the applicable collective labour agreement (TES) or are at least €1463 per month.

The program is organised in collaboration with the cities of Helsinki, Espoo and Vantaa and the following universities:

  • Aalto University
  • Hanken School of Economics
  • University of Helsinki
  • Metropolia University of Applied Sciences

Eligibility criteria for Metropolia students

To apply, you must:

  • be an international degree student or recent international graduate interested in gaining work experience in Finland
  • be currently studying at Metropolia UAS and registered as an attending student or have graduated from Metropolia on or after 1st of March 2025.
  • study business administration or engineering/technology
  • have Helsinki, Espoo or Vantaa as your municipality of residence
  • have at least A2.1 level Finnish skills (for example, at least two Finnish language courses completed)

Internship opportunities will be published gradually during the spring in JobTeaser, where you will find all available positions as well as here at the program’s landing in Student´s guide.

The internships are offered by companies across the Helsinki metropolitan area. Metropolia students particularly can expect opportunities in:

  • Business roles (e.g. marketing, business development, analytics)
  • Technology and engineering roles

Stand Out in the Summer Internship Program Applications – Join the Application Preparation Event on 27 March

Metropolia will organise an online preparation event for students applying to the Summer Internship Program on 27 March from 1–3 PM.

During the session you will:

  • learn more about the Summer Internship Program, upcoming positions and the application timeline
  • get practical guidance from Metropolia career coaches on how to prepare a strong application
  • learn how to create an effective CV and application for internship positions
  • get tips on how to make your application stand out

There will also be time for questions and answers.
