Good to Know About Cross-Institutional Studies
Metropolia has established various cross-institutional study networks with other Finnish higher education institutions. Through these networks, students from different institutions can participate in each other’s courses. The studies are often field-specific, meaning that students from different fields have access to different cross-institutional study offerings.
Cross-institutional studying takes place through a national cross-institutional study service (Ripa). This means that you register for another institution’s courses through your Personal Study Plan (PSP), in the same way as you would for courses at your home institution. Once you have completed the studies, the assessment is transferred automatically to your home institution’s study register.
You may register for cross-institutional studies if you have a valid right to study at your home institution and have enrolled as present. As a cross-institutional student, you will be granted a temporary right to study for the courses you have chosen.
Where can I find the course offering?
- View the course offering in your home institution’s study information system, via your PSP.
- Browse the full course offering of Metropolia’s cross-institutional study networks in Metropolia’s Study Guide.
Before registering, consider the following:
- Agree on the completion of the planned studies with your home institution. This ensures that the studies support your personal study plan.
- You must have a valid right to study at your home institution and be registered as present for the entire duration of the planned studies.
- Cross-institutional studies are free of charge when you register through your home institution’s study information system. If you register through the Open UAS (Open University of Applied Sciences), the studies may be subject to a fee.
- The rules and regulations of the host institution apply to all cross-institutional studies.
Note! The cross-institutional study service has a maintenance break every first Tuesday of the month from 9am to 12 pm. Brief interruptions may occur, for which the registration may not be possible.
