Course offering
The compulsory studies and degree structure can be found in the curriculum for your degree in the Metropolia Study Guide and in your personal study plan (PSP) in the ePSP service (login required).
The degree programme will separately provide information about the course implementations offered in the upcoming semester, including the courses to be delivered, their scheduling by study period, and the registration periods and instructions.
Compulsory studies must be completed in the order specified by the curriculum and the degree programme's instructions.
In addition to compulsory studies, degree programmes include elective studies and Profile Studies in Working Life Skills (abbreviated in Finnish as "TOP studies").
Students may choose elective studies offered by Metropolia or by other higher education institutions, for example through cross-institutional study offerings.
The available elective studies and Profile Studies in Working Life Skills are not automatically included in the personal study plan in the ePSP service. However, the personal study plan shows the number of credits allocated to elective studies and Profile Studies in Working Life Skills that are included in the degree.
In some degree programmes, elective studies, Profile Studies in Working Life Skills, and cross-institutional studies offered by other higher education institutions must be approved before registration. In such cases, your degree programme will provide instructions at the beginning of your studies.
Elective Studies and Profile Studies in Working Life Skills
Information about these studies can be found on the Elective Studies page.
Degree programmes may also offer additional elective studies of their own, which will be announced at the start of the studies.
Cross-Institutional Studies Offered by Other Higher Education Institutions
When are course offerings published and when can students register?
The course offerings for the autumn semester, spring semester, and summer term each have separately defined publication and registration dates. Your degree programme will provide information about the courses offered in the upcoming semester, including the specific course implementations available.
Once the course offering has been published and registration has opened, you can search for courses and register for course implementations through:
- The ePSP service (Registrations or Study Selection).
- Instructions can be found in OMA Instructions
- The Tuudo app
- Select from the bottom menu Student Services → Studies → Search studies.
- Any other method instructed by your degree programme.
Can I register for any course?
The registration systems also display courses that are intended only for students of specific degree programmes or study groups. Before registering, check:
- Which degree programme or study group the course is intended for.
- Whether the course has any prerequisite requirements.
Students in Master's degree programmes (YAMK) may only select Master's-level studies, while students in Bachelor's degree programmes (AMK) may only select Bachelor's-level studies.
Please note that not all courses can necessarily be included in your degree. Your degree programme will provide further instructions at the beginning of your studies.
