Schedule and locations

Every day at 10:00–15:00:

  • Myllypuro Tue–Wed 3–4 Nov 2026, Showroom
  • Karamalmi Tue–Wed 10–11 Nov 2026, KME 590
  • Myyrmäki Tue–Wed 17–18 Nov 2026, MMC104, hot drinks served on the 3rd floor of Wing C
  • Arabia Tue–Wed 24–25 Nov 2026, Exhibition Lobby

Drop by for a moment – for a 5-minute micro-nap or an hour of lounging, you decide.

What’s happening?

This marathon doesn’t measure kilometers, but the noble art of letting go:
how well you can release the rush and just be. A soft, dimly lit oasis will appear on the campuses, where you can:

  • lie down on a yoga mat, in a beanbag or lounge like royalty in an armchair
  • listen to gentle music and calming soundscapes
  • sink into sleep stories, tales and micro-naps – yes, napping is fully allowed as part of the program
  • enjoy hot drinks and snack bars

The first hundred visitors to the Lounging Marathon at each campus will receive a unique overall badge – the perfect proof that you know how to rest in public.

Why should you come?

Studying sometimes feels like a sprint, but in reality it’s a marathon
that also requires recovery skills. Lounging is a true superpower for studying – it:

  • calms the nervous system
  • improves concentration
  • helps you cope with lectures, projects and group work (even the ones where no one replies to WhatsApp messages)

The Lounging Marathon is a reminder that you don’t always have to push harder; sometimes the most important skill is knowing how to press pause.
Here’s how one student described their experience last year:

“Lounging in the dim light with birdsong was the best. This should be organized every day ❤️”

The event is free of charge and open to all Metropolia students.
Join us, pause for a moment and become one of the masters of resting.
You can come alone, with a friend or even with your entire project team – it might be the most effective “meeting” of your whole week.

Restful regards

The Resting Marathon is organized in cooperation by
Metropolia Student Wellbeing Services and University Chaplains.

You are warmly welcome to rest – with full permission.
