Outages on Several Websites Due to a PHP Vulnerability

Published: 21.10.2026

An exceptional vulnerability has been identified in the PHP programming language used on the websites of many organisations around the world. According to YLE’s website, an EU agency has advised that websites should be taken offline if corrective updates cannot be implemented.

Metropolia’s IT Services has had to temporarily take offline all services implemented in PHP. The services will be restored once the vulnerability has been fixed.

This affects, for example, the following websites and services:

  • Moodle.metropolia.fi
  • www.metropolia.fi
  • users.metropolia.fi (personal home pages)
  • projects.metropolia.fi (project websites)
  • Several other websites and services

If you notice that any website is not working, it is most likely due to this service outage. We will provide an update when the situation has been resolved.
