Metropolia’s academic year begins as planned

Metropolia’s academic year and teaching will begin according to the previously announced schedules despite the strike notice. 

The Trade Union of Education (OAJ) has issued strike notices for 1–3 and 8–10 September 2026. 

New students: The start of the academic year and orientation sessions will be held according to the announced schedules. Please follow the communications in your course workspace and check your timetable for any further instructions. 

Continuing students: As a general rule, studies will take place according to the timetables. However, there may be changes to teaching on 1–3 September and to timetables on 8–10 September. Please follow the communications in your course workspace and check your timetable for any changes. 

The strike concerns the collective agreement for universities of applied sciences, which is negotiated between the Finnish Education Employers (Sivistysala ry), representing employers, and the Trade Union of Education (OAJ ry).
