First-year student, please complete the HealthStart questionnaire in YTHSDigi
If you started completing your first degree at an institution of higher education in the autumn semester 2026, we ask you to complete the HealthStart questionnaire in YTHSDigi. After completing the HealthStart questionnaire, you’ll receive feedback on your state of health and may be referred to health promotion services provided by the FSHS.
The health examination for first-year students begins with the HealthStart questionnaire, the aim of which is to help you and healthcare professionals check your health status and refer you to the appropriate services as early as possible at the beginning of your studies.
The HealthStart questionnaire examines your physical, mental and social health, as well as the key aspects of your health behavior and factors affecting your health, health behavior and ability to study.

Information on upcoming influenza vaccinations at FSHS service units
Influenza vaccinations will begin at various FSHS service units in October or November. Social and healthcare students in higher education, as well as students belonging to a risk group can receive their influenza vaccinations from the FSHS free of charge.
In many towns, students need to book an individual vaccination appointment. In some places, vaccination events are organized without an appointment. You can now check the instructions of your own town.
Remember to pay the student healthcare fee in higher education to Kela
The 2026 rate of the student healthcare fee is EUR 35.35 per term. Remember to pay the healthcare fee to Kela for both the spring term and the autumn term. You are not billed for the fee but are expected to pay it on your own initiative via the OmaKela e-service. You do not have to pay the healthcare fee if you have social security coverage in another EU or EEA country, Switzerland, Great Britain, Northern Ireland or the EU.
The due date for the fee for the autumn term is 15 November, if you register as attending by 30 September.
