The blood donation bus is coming to Metropolia Campuses in November!
For the third year in a row, the Finnish Red Cross Blood Service’s Blood Donation Bus will be visiting all Metropolia campuses in November! This is your chance to roll up your sleeve and donate blood.
We recommend booking your appointment well in advance, as appointments are also open to people from the surrounding area.
Donated blood is used to make blood products for hospitals, where they are vital for patients such as accident victims, cancer patients, mothers who have just given birth, and people undergoing surgery. By donating blood, you can give a gift that may save someone’s life.
As a thank-you, all blood donors will be offered refreshments and, if they wish, a student overall patch!
Tour schedule
The Blood Donation Bus will be parked close to the campus, so it will be easy to find. Red Cross staff will also be welcoming donors in the campus lobbies!

How to donate blood

Most people are eligible to donate, but the Blood Service wants to make sure that donating is safe for you, too.
- Book an appointment at the campus of your choice using the links above.

Complete the online health questionnaire in advance: https://www.terveyskysely.fi/
You can complete the questionnaire no earlier than the day before your donation.
Remember to bring a valid form of identification. A driving licence is accepted. The actual blood donation takes only 5–10 minutes, but you should allow approximately one hour for the entire visit. Coffee, tea and light refreshments will be available for all donors.
On the day of your donation
- Arrive on time and allow approximately one hour for your visit.
- Avoid eating a heavy meal immediately before donating blood.
- Bring a valid form of identification!
- You do not need to know your blood type or haemoglobin level in advance.

Join Metropolia’s blood donor group!
Metropolia has its own blood donor group. If you would like your donation to count towards our group, simply give the group name Metropolia Ammattikorkeakoulu when you donate blood. Your donation will then count towards our group’s total!
Student organisations and the student union also have their own donor groups that you can join.

The table on the website shows the points standings for donor groups that have recorded at least one donation visit since the beginning of the year and have given the Blood Service permission to publish their name online.

Simply mention your group’s name when you next donate blood, and your donation will earn a point for your group.
The tour is organised by Metropolia’s Facilities Services in collaboration with the Finnish Red Cross Blood Service.
