Student exchange destinations

Tips for planning the exchange

Consider the following when thinking about a suitable exchange destination for yourself

  • exchange agreements in your field of study and degree programme
  • your interest: host country, language learning and partner universities, skills you want to learn
  • courses offered at the host institution (or placement opportunities in the field of health care and social services)
  • applicability of the available courses to your degree at Metropolia
  • language of instruction, required language skills and the level of your own language proficiency
  • timing of the semesters in different countries and at different institutions as well as your study plan in Finland – both before and after the student exchange

Exchange programmes

When applying to student exchange, you have a great variety of exchange destinations to choose from. You will also notice the different exchange programmes.

Most student exchanges in Europe take place through the Erasmus+ exchange programme. Metropolia also participates in several Nordplus networks in the Nordic and Baltic countries. In addition, Metropolia has bilateral partnerships all around the world.

Metropolia also coordinates a European university alliance. Through the U!REKA alliance, you may encounter several additional internationalisation opportunities during your studies.

Erasmus+ programme

The Erasmus+ exchange programme supports many Metropolia students in student exchanges, work placement abroad as well as in blended short-term exchanges.
