Compassion and Support Following the Natural Disaster in Nepal

Published: 02.09.2026

The news from Nepal over the past few days has been deeply distressing. We would like to express our heartfelt sympathy and support to everyone affected by the disaster, especially those who have family members, friends or other loved ones in the region.

On 26 August 2026, a sudden and severe flood occurred in the Himalayan region following the collapse of a glacier and the resulting massive surge of water. The flood caused extensive damage and has had a serious impact on local communities. Search and rescue operations are ongoing, and emergency assistance is being provided to those affected.

Crisis situations can cause worry, uncertainty and a wide range of emotions. We encourage everyone to take care of their own wellbeing and that of those around them, and to make use of the support services available if needed.

If the disaster in Nepal is causing you worry or fear, or if you feel that you need someone to talk to, please remember that support is available.
