Sustainability in Metropolia: Answer to Commuting Survey
How do you commute to campus, and how often do you work or study remotely? Does the season affect your commuting habits? How should Metropolia support sustainable commuting?
The survey collects data for Metropolia's carbon footprint calculation and climate work. The commuting survey is for all students and staff members of Metropolia! Examples of practices examined in the survey include staff benefits, remote studying and working, and campus development, including parking practices for cars and bikes.
Answer the survey before 31st of January here. You can also spread the link tinyurl.com/Commuting2025 in Metropolia community (tinyurl.com/Liikkumiskysely2025 for the Finnish version)! The survey is anonymous and completing it takes only a few minutes.
Last year, the response rate to a similar survey was around 9 % of all people at Metropolia. For more diverse and more realistic picture of how Metropolians commute, we need answers from everybody: students, teachers, and other staff members. Your answer is also needed regarding if you answered the survey already last year, we need data annually. The survey's content has been developed so it is now easier and faster to complete. By answering you help us to develop Metropolia toward greener future.
After completing the survey, you can participate in a separate prize draw where you can win a voucher.
Thank you for your response!

Background
Communing forms a big share of Metropolian’s carbon footprint, and it is typically remarkable part of individual footprints what comes to sustainability. In 2024 40,3 % Metropolia’s emissions came from mobility - commuting of students and staff. Combustion engines are playing a significant role in this. These are reasons why choosing more climate neutral commuting forms matters! If possible, always prefer cycling, walking ja public transportation. Your own health and wellbeing benefits from that decision too.
