What if nothing was single use?

Every day, thousands of products are designed to be used once and discarded. Packaging, takeaway containers, event materials, consumer goods and countless everyday items pass through our hands for only a moment before becoming waste.

But what if we designed our city differently?

Join Climathon Helsinki 2026, a collaborative innovation challenge bringing together students, professionals, entrepreneurs, researchers and city-makers to reimagine a future beyond single-use culture.

Over two days, participants will work in multidisciplinary teams to develop bold, practical solutions that support Helsinki's transition towards a more circular, resource-smart and climate-neutral future.

Whether your background is in business, technology, design, sustainability, engineering, social sciences or something entirely different, your perspective matters.

Save the date: 12–13 October 2026

More information, challenge details and registration will be announced soon.

What's Climathon?

Climathon is a global movement that brings together citizens, students, innovators, experts and organizations to tackle local climate challenges through collaborative innovation.

Initiated by EIT Climate-KIC, Climathon events take place around the world in cities committed to building a more sustainable future. Over the course of 12 to 48 hours, participants work in multidisciplinary teams to develop practical, impactful solutions that can help reduce emissions, strengthen resilience and accelerate climate action.

Since 2015, Climathon has grown into a worldwide community of climate innovators, with more than 600 organizers delivering over 1,000 events and engaging more than 30,000 participants across the globe.

Climathon Helsinki 2026 is part of this global movement, connecting local challenges with collective action and fresh ideas for a climate-neutral future.
